General Clinic Information
Location:
Whitecourt Veterinary Clinic is located in downtown Whitecourt on Dahl Drive. We have a
freestanding building built as a veterinary clinic in 1999. From highway 43, at the
MacDonalds' intersection, just turn north on Dahl Drive, follow Dahl Drive past the
railway tracks, and turn left. We are located next to the Dynamic Esso convenience store
on the corner, across the street from Wal-Mart.
Hours Of Operation:
Regular Office Hours:
Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM
Thursdays open LATE 8 AM to 8PM
Saturdays 9 AM to 3 PM
Generally, we are closed on New Years Day, Good Friday, Canada Day, Victoria Day, Civic
Holiday, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. However,
we are available for any emergencies that might arise after business hours and any
statutory holiday. Simply telephone our regular phone number, 780-778-5767, and an
answering service will contact the veterinarian on call.
Appointments:
Appointments are recommended. Walk-ins are welcome but unless it is an emergency,
walk in appointments are fitted in as time permits between scheduled appointments and will
be charged an additional fee. For your convenience, you may leave your pet with us to be
examined. If you have an emergency, immediately contact our office to receive veterinary
care as soon as possible.
Restraints:
For the comfort and safety of our patients and clients, all dogs must be on a
leash and cats must be in carriers while in the reception area. If you do not have these
restraints, please let us know and we can provide one for you to borrow.
Phone/Internet Advice:
While we encourage all clients to telephone with any concerns or questions,
please note that for certain cases, advice over the telephone is not appropriate and you
may be asked to bring your pet to the hospital. In order for the veterinarian to
accurately diagnosis a condition, and/or prescribe medication, the animal must be examined
by one of our veterinarians.
Fees:
In order to keep fees to a minimum for all customers, payment for our services is
expected at the time of your visit. However, we do realize that some costs may be
unexpected for families so we do have a credit card called MEDI-CARD available to those
who need it. Applying for MEDI-CARD is quick and easy. As well, this financing option may
be used for dentistry, laser eye surgery, and other uses.
We make every effort to maintain fair and reasonable fees. Our fees are based on
guidelines established by the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and are
determined by the level of service provided at our clinic through hospitalization,
procedures, equipment, time and types of medications administered. We will be glad to
prepare a written estimate of proposed services upon request. If you anticipate any
problems with payment, please notify the attending veterinarian or any staff member in
advance of the services so that a mutually agreeable solution may be reached.
For your convenience, we accept CASH, MasterCard, VISA, Direct Debit, and MEDI-CARD.
Tours:
We are very proud of our work and our facility, and thus we enjoy giving hospital
tours to individuals or small groups. If you would like a tour or to arrange a tour for a
group, please give us a call. Please keep in mind that early in the morning and late
afternoon are generally busy with surgery check-ins and surgery discharging.
