Whitecourt Veterinary Clinic serves as the pound holding facility, which is operated by the Town of Whitecourt. Our brand new facility has newly heated kennel floors, runs and a large heated animal bay. Lost/stray pets that are seized by the town’s Animal Control are brought to the pound and are held for identification and to be picked up by their owners.
SCREENINGS FOR ADOPTIONS
The pets are held for 3 business days. Any animals that are not claimed during that period are then available for adoption (pending available space). If we have available space, we board and care for the animals until they are adopted. All animals are carefully screened to ensure that they are appropriate to be adopted into a new family. Many animals brought into the pound are not fit for adoption.
ADOPTION FEES
Whitecourt Veterinary Clinic charges fees to adopt an animal. These fees help to offset the cost of services that the animals receive, including spaying/neutering and vaccinations. If the animal is already spayed or neutered, then the adoption fees are reduced accordingly. If you choose a kitten or puppy that is too young to be spayed or neutered, then that cost is credited to your account and is used at the time of adoption.
QUESTIONS AND VIEWINGS
Whitecourt Veterinary Clinic is happy to answer any questions you have about adopting a new pet. Current pound animals can be viewed during the hours of 8:30AM to 11AM and 3PM to 4:30PM, when our pound attendant is available. Find us on Facebook for pictures of cats and dogs that are available for adoption.
SURRENDER AN ANIMAL
The Whitecourt Veterinary Clinic does accept surrendered animals. However, mandatory fees must be paid by anyone wanting to surrender an animal. Please call ahead for more information.
